Heavy, Experimental Music from Massachusetts

Massachusetts band cliffrose brings together hardcore, screamo, punk and sludge to create music that feels raw, intense and deliberately unpredictable. Based in Western Massachusetts, the band has built its sound around heavy guitars, abrasive vocals and atmospheric passages that can move rapidly between aggression and reflection. cliffrose does not fit neatly into one genre.

The band describes its music with tags including hardcore, punk, screamo, skramz and sludge. Its own tongue-in-cheek description compares the sound to a meeting between sludge metal and emotionally charged screamo. That combination helps explain the contrast at the heart of cliffrose: crushing heaviness can suddenly give way to spacious guitar textures and deeply personal songwriting.

Their first album “Hooks Imagining Securities” is coming out on October 1st!

The band features Nervous Jersey (Nora Jenny) on guitar and vocals, Ulan (Sam Jenny) on drums, Edweirdo on bass and vocals, and Isaac Pfosi on guitar.
