ISBN and ISSN Barcodes (for Books & Magazines)
Do you need barcodes for your book or magazine? Books and magazines use a different numbering system than other products. Books use the ISBN system, and magazines use the ISSN system. We can make your book or magazine barcode if you already have your ISBN or ISSN number.
For books and magazines, ISBN and ISSN barcodes serve distinct roles. ISBN (International Standard Book Number) labels individual books or editions. ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) marks serial publications like magazines and journals. ISSNs use eight digits. Publishers assign ISSNs to entire serial titles, not individual issues.
You need an ISBN for each format (paperback, hardcover, ebook). ISBNs begin with “978” or “979.”
If you don’t have an ISBN yet, you must get one from your country’s ISBN Agency. We cannot issue ISBN or ISSN numbers ourselves.
When you already hold an ISBN or ISSN, you can order barcode images. We deliver these in formats like PNG, SVG, and PDF. Use them on back covers or media wraps. They work globally.
You can optionally include a 5‑digit price code. That lets some retailers read your book’s price automatically. Many users skip this step.
